Elisa and I share a strong affection towards animals. We have had a number of pets between us and continue to take on as much as we can to help our furry friends. We currently have 4 dogs along with the countless wild “pets” (birds, squirrels, rabbits, deer and such) we care for. Of the animals in our home all but one are strays who have found us through the years. We recently lost our cat, Sophia, who allowed me to share my shop and garage area with her. She joined us while we were living in North Carolina and finally warmed up to this dog lover a few years back (OK it was probably me who warmed to her). The 4 dogs are comprised of  4 who found us as fast as they could. Our 17 year old Chocolate Lab Indy recently left us and was the only pet who was not stray when we came together. On the list of “strays” is Foster who we initially placed with Elisa’s parents but has returned to our fold since their passing. Next is  Gracie our Bassett Hound which Elisa found walking down the middle of the multi-lane portion of Grand Avenue in Dallas. Elisa could not stand to see her running in this congested area and when she got her home I took one look at her and said “we are going to have to keep this one”. Sadie, a border collie mix the sweetest little “cattle dog” you would ever want to meet and her newfound best beau Bear a golden Chow mix round out the group and as I mentioned they found us as quickly as they could. Whoever had these two obviously did not have a love for dogs like so many strays it took them a while to grow back to a healthy level of trust for loving friends.

In addition to the pets we have secured as our own we have taken in and placed quite a few dogs over the years. Most recently 2 success stories have been achieved the first was Tess a Chesapeake Bay Retriever/Sharpei mix which found me one day at the office, we are on Hampton and Wintergreen in Desoto. No place for a dog to be running free. We had Tess in our home briefly before we placed her with one of my buyer clients and when last I checked they were both doing well. The second success was a black Lab found running a busy street in Red Oak. Max is smart as they come and with the help of Lone Star Lab rescue we were able to place him with a Teacher in Tarrant county who specializes in children with special needs. Max is well on his way to being a certified therapy dog and will go to school with his new Dad on a daily basis.
